On June 7, 2014, Comedian, Tracy Morgan, was critically injured from an accident on the New Jersey Turnpike, when a Walmart truck rear-ended Morgan’s limo. Not only did the accident leave Tracy Morgan with broken ribs, a broken nose, and a broken leg, but his friend, James McNair, also a comedian, was killed and others were injured. Morgan has been released from a rehabilitation centre and will continue recovery at home.
He is now suing Walmart over this deadly crash and the complaint was filed on Thursday, July 10 in the U.S. District Court in New Jersey. The Walmart truck that collided with the limo Morgan was travelling in was going 20 miles per hour over the speed limit and the driver was almost at his drive time limit, according to the National Transportation Safety Board’s preliminary report. The complaint states that, “the defendants’ negligence was a substantial contributing factor in causing plaintiffs’ injuries.” The truck was driven by Walmart employee, Kevin Roper, who pleaded not guilty last month to criminal charges including vehicular homicide and assault by auto.
