As of November 1, 2017, all condominium managers have 90 days to apply for a licence under the Condominium Management Services Act. The two classes of licences will be limited and general. The Minister of Government and Consumer Services recently designated educational and examination requirements for general licenses.
I am a Condo Manager, what does this mean for me?
If you have less than 5 years of experience providing condominium management services prior to November 1, 2017, you are required to successfully complete these courses from the Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario (ACMO):
If you have more than 5 years of experience providing condominium management services, you are required to either successfully complete these courses or a challenge examination developed and administered by ACMO or an approved college.
Property managers with a deemed transitional general licence and those who have successfully completed the ACMO Registered Condominium Manager examination are exempt from these educational requirements. The Registrar can also recognize the prior successful completion of other courses, training programs, internships, exams, and work experience as equivalent to some or all of the educational requisites.
