It is important to be informed about the potential hazards related to horseback riding in order to prevent severe personal injury and make it an enjoyable activity. Safety precautions to prevent such possible injuries are the responsibility of the rider or their guardian and the owner of the horse or stable. However, horseback riding can still be safer than some other everyday activities when proper safety measures are taken. This is outlined in the book, Start with Safety: Horse Safety Guidelines, which provides an introduction on horse safety.
