On Thursday September 4, 2014, Sarnia Police pulled over a speeding car and found a disqualified, drunk driver driving, along with cocaine in the car. The most upsetting fact about this story is that his six-month-old child was in the back seat. The Sarnia man, 39, was stopped for speeding on Modeland Road at approximately 7am after driving 118km/h in an 80km/h zone. The officer smelled booze on the man and conducted a roadside breath test which the driver failed. Police took him to headquarters for another breath test and found that he had one and a half times the legal limit of alcohol in him. After the driver’s arrest, the police officer also found a small amount of suspected cocaine in the car. The driver is facing charges which include driving over the legal limit, driving while disqualified, speeding, and possession of a controlled substance.
